Traditional vs Behavioral Interviews

by / Saturday, 14 February 2015 / Published in INTERVIEWING, TOP NEWS

You want to be prepared and confident when participating in either type of interview.

Interviewing does not come naturally to most people. In fact, almost everything about an interview goes against basic human emotions. In an interview you are being evaluated and judged – constantly. That’s the interviewer’s job! They must ask the right questions, in the right way, to gather enough information to enable them to make an informed decision. Which candidate is the best person for the job?

Most people are very uncomfortable when they know they are being judged. Because they are uncomfortable, many candidates have a tendency to over-analyze the questions that are asked, and to over- or under-compensate for their natural communication skills. The result is poor and ineffective communication and a wasted interview.
